Where should you post an AI role?

The right answer depends on your budget and how specialised the role is — sometimes it isn’t us. Below is a straight comparison of the places teams actually consider when hiring AI and ML people, including the free ones, with what each costs and how long a listing lives.

How each one compares

LinkedIn Jobs

Where it wins: Nothing else has the same reach or the same recruiter tooling, and a free basic post costs you nothing to try.

Versus AIJobsRush: Reach is the problem for a niche AI role. Promotion is an auction — you pay per click from an audience that is mostly not AI practitioners, and the moment you stop funding the ad the listing stops appearing. Ours is $49 once and the listing doesn't stop.

Indeed

Where it wins: Very high applicant volume, a free tier, and a sponsored model that charges per started application so you can tie spend directly to pipeline.

Versus AIJobsRush: Volume isn't the constraint when hiring an ML engineer — signal is. Paying per application from a general audience means paying to filter. We're a smaller pool that's already in the field, at a price you know before you start.

Wellfound

Where it wins: Free, unlimited job posts with a large startup-focused candidate base. If you're a startup, post there. There's no argument for skipping something free.

Versus AIJobsRush: It's startup-general, not AI-specific, and your free listing sits alongside every other free listing — the $200 Job Ad boost is how you get seen. Use both: Wellfound for breadth, us for the AI-specific audience.

Welcome to the Jungle (Otta)

Where it wins: Excellent employer-brand pages and a candidate experience most boards don't match. Good if you're hiring continuously and want a company profile that sells.

Versus AIJobsRush: It's sold as a subscription with a quote — they don't publish prices, so you start with a sales conversation. That's a lot of process for one role. We publish the price and you can be live today.

Hacker News "Who is hiring"

Where it wins: Free, and genuinely effective for engineering roles. Plenty of strong hires have come out of that thread.

Versus AIJobsRush: It's a plain-text comment in a thread that appears once a month, and attention on it fades within days. Nothing is structured, searchable or indexed as a job posting. It complements a real listing rather than replacing one.

aijobs.ai

Where it wins: Also AI-specific, so the audience fit is comparable to ours — this is the closest like-for-like comparison on this page.

Versus AIJobsRush: $299 buys 30 days. At $49 you pay roughly a sixth and the listing doesn't expire, so it keeps working for search traffic after the initial push. If your role is urgent and well funded, either works; on cost per live day, we're cheaper.

When we’re not the right choice

  • You’re hiring at volume. If you’re filling fifteen roles a quarter, a per-post fee stops making sense. An ATS-integrated subscription will cost you less per hire.
  • The role isn’t really an AI role. A generalist backend or sales job will get more applicants on a general board. Our audience is narrow on purpose.
  • You have no budget. Post to Hacker News’ monthly thread and Wellfound first. Both are free and both work.
  • You need candidate sourcing or screening. We distribute a listing. We don’t search a CV database or filter applicants for you.

What $49 actually gets you

  • One listing on a board that only carries AI and ML roles.
  • A single payment. No subscription, no seat, no renewal.
  • The listing stays live indefinitely — it isn’t pulled after 30 days.
  • Paste your existing job URL and we import the details for you.
  • A human reviews the listing before it publishes, usually within 24 hours.
  • Distribution across our social channels. $69 adds top-of-board placement.

Competitor pricing above was taken from each vendor’s own public pricing pages and last checked in August 2026. LinkedIn and Indeed price promoted listings through an auction, so real cost varies by role, location and competition — we don’t quote a figure we can’t verify. Welcome to the Jungle does not publish prices. Prices change; check the source before budgeting. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we’ll correct it.
